Chod retreat, Saturday 18th to Friday 24th February
Chod is a practice which originated principally with the female master, Machig Labdron around 1,000 A.D. The practice is used in all the schools of Tibetan Buddhism and its particular emphasis for Dzogchen practitioners relates to behaviour and the overcoming of attachment. In this retreat, there will be a full explanation of the meaning of the text of Chod and also practically how to use the dameru (drum) and bell.
The full explanation of Chod will take place over the weekend of 18-19th February.
From the 20-24th February, following the advice of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, the practice of Chod will be combined with Rushen practices, based on ‘The Precious Vase’. Rushen practices are aimed at separating the workings of the mind from the state of pure instant presence or rigpa.
Daily schedule:
- 7-9 am Personal practice
- 10 am-12 Explanation and practice of
- 3-5 pm Explanation and practice of Chod
- 7-8pm Tun plus Chod
- 9.30 pm Chod practice (optional)
The retreat is open to all those who have received transmission of the Chod practice from Chogyal Namkhai Norbu.
Cost:
Daily charge of accommodation (according to membership) plus £5 per day for basic shared food costs. In addition ganapuja donations or offerings are welcome.

Kunselling package and reduced KSL package: £10
Ordinary and reduced: £12; Non-members: £15
